Moodboard Motivations

This month the design team are working with this deep, rich moodboard
( source: Pinterest)

Kelly-ann Oosterbeek is kicking off this post with a layout inspired by all the vintage colours and fob watches found on this moodboard.

Kelly-ann says:
I loved this mood board for inspiration ... in my head Browns/blacks/clocks = vintage.
I've used a pretty basic background paper for this layout but touched it up with ink and watercolour paints. I also used watercolour paints on all the chipboards and those tufts of grass you can see at the base.

Using watercolour paint can create a beautiful patchy look that mimics age ... here I've painted with brown but used watered down white over that to give a chalky look to the finish.

Water colour paint also has the added bonus of soaking into the chipboard very effectively saving you from having to painstakingly cut in around the edges.

Thanks Kel.

Next we have Sandi Spink with an inspired layout on black.

Sandi says:
I was inspired by a workshop I attended last year held by our wonderful Louise Nelson, the background is a rolled section of white gesso and used a spatula to scrap lines into it whilst wet. I used an antique gold paint to coat the chipboard 'Dress' and Distress Oxide Ranger ink on the 'Now' arrow. The clock/cog piece was covered in Silver Versa ink and then embossed with Tinby Melallic Melts 'Paline'.

Thanks Sandi.

The talented Louise Nelson herself is next...

For the November theme Louise thought outside the box completely!

Louise has created 3 pairs of fun and funky earrings using her own designs.

Whilst they wont last forever they will certainly be fun to wear whilst they do.

Louise was inspired by the mood board to use 2 of the colours; black and silver.

FANTASTIC projects girls, thanks for the inspiration.

Paint Chips & Pockets with Belinda Spencer

Hello!!

Belinda here today to share two projects featuring a whole heap of Imaginarium Designs chipboard.

First up is my layout for the April challenge at Kraft Plus Challenges.

'Capture The Moment'

As you can see there is a whole heap of different chipboard all working together to be the star of my layout.

I have kept to a lovely soft monochromatic colour scheme for my layout and altered my chipboard accordingly. The cute cloud above was given a coat of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain while the word was coloured with a white Posca Pen.

My title was also painted with the white Posca Pen. I patched my title together using the 'capture' and 'moment' from the same word board and the 'the' was cut from the 'honouring the past' title.

The tinies stars and Nat's Bubbles were also given a coat of the Brushed Pewter Distress Stain.

Finally the Brushed Pewter was also used on Loolabelle's Pie Chart and Heart embellishment.

I do like to keep it simple when altering my chipboard. Yoou can achieve a stunning look with the simplest of techniques.

'Be Brave Pocket Letter'

I taught this pocket letter at a recent workshop. It features the fabulous Echo Park Just Be You paper range.

All of my chipboard pieces were painted with heavy white gesso and some were then covered in patterned paper.

Well that is all from me. I hope you are feeling inspired to grab your stash of Imaginarium Designs chipboard and have a play. Remember sometimes less is more when it comes to dressing up your chipboard. A simple swipe of paint is sometimes all it needs.

Thanks so much for checking out my projects today.

Cheers

"Way Cool" Projects with Belinda Spencer

Hello Imaginarium Designs peeps!!

Welcome to my March post!

Belinda with you today to share two layouts and four cards from a recent card workshop I held at Seriously Scrapbooking.

'Way Cool' Layout

This is my DT layout for the March challenge at Kraft Plus Challenges. The challenge is to use denim on your kraft based layout. I have used a pocket and belt loop from an old pair of jeans as well as a denim super star embellishment from Charm's Creations. What better chipboard than my favourite 'go to' chipboard; the 21 Stars in a Board?

I have also used a few teeny tiny stars from the Stars Board and the word 'cool' from the Cool Super Brave Word set.

And to show that I am consistent if nothing else, all of the chipboard is painted with white gesso. 😉

'10 Today' Layout

On this layout, I have used one of the super cute banners. I love these banners. They are terrific on layouts as well as cards and perfect for a birthday theme project.

You may have noticed that I have painted my chipboard with white gesso yet again!  It is my favourite way to make the chipboard stand out from a busy or highly coloured background. I have flicked some pink Kaisermist over the top of this banner and layered on some stamped stars too.

Did you spot the odd one out??

Every single piece of chipboard is painted with white gesso...except for one!

The circular cross hatch has been altered with a combination of Tim Holtz Distress Stain and Distress Stain Spray in Brushed Pewter.
