Follow Your Dreams Layout

Hello everyone! Julianne here today, sharing a layout that is a little different from my usual. 

Sometimes, life gets in the way, and we forget about us, and what we need, and occasionally want. So, I created this layout as a reminder - a reminder to follow MY dreams, a reminder to stop and smell the roses, a reminder to not ever give up, or forget that I am important too. 

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS

I have created this layout on a 12 x 12 piece of chipboard. I started by covering the chipboard with two coats of white gesso, and allowing it to dry. I then found a mask that I liked, laid it over the chipboard, and filled in the centre strip spaces with texture paste. I then allowed it to dry thoroughly. 

Next, I added Glimmermist (Red-Nosed Reindeer), creating the dribbled effect with a syringe dropper. This gives me maximum control on where my Glimmermist is placed. But be careful, you do not want too much on your page, as it can spread in the wrong directions. The key is to work slowly. 

Next, I chose a dark, smoky coloured glimmermist (Raven), and splattered it over the page, in random places. I created these splatters by holding the spray stem from inside the bottle, over my page, and tapping it lightly with my finger, in the places that I wanted splatter. 

Next, I coated the compass, needle and corners with Inka Gold (Platinum). I then took the compass and needle, and coated it with Glimmer Glaze (Pewter), dabbing off the excess before it was completely dry, to help create an aged and weathered look. I then glued the corners to the page, and added the compass and needle towards the top of the page, slightly off-centre.  

Next, I added Dimensional Magic in random spots on the masked area, and also along the outer egdes of the corners, I then sprinkled micro beads all over these areas. Allow to dry thoroughly before proceeding. The micro beads create such an amazing texture. 

I then completed my layout with flowers, vines, wooden embellishment pieces, touches of kindy glitz, and Liquid Pearls around the outer edge of the compass. I finished with my title, and a little personal journaling, to remind me of what is important.

A Card For Someone Special!

Hello everyone!
Julianne joining you today.  

Have you recovered from the New Year celebrations? 

Are you ready to get back into creating? 

I thought I might inspire you with a gorgeous easel card that I have created 

for a young girl (family friend) who is about to become a teenager. 

I wanted to create a card that was pretty and feminine, but not overtly "girly".
And something that she can treasure and put on display, to remind herself that
she is now a teenager, and young woman.

I have used Brown-Gold Inka Gold to cover the window, shutters and heart picket fence.
It was the perfect shade to co-ordinate with the Marion Smith papers.
I love using Inka-Gold because it covers chipboard smoothly and effortlessly, just by rubbing it on with your finger, and it washes off your finger with a baby wipe, or soap and water.  

Originally the picket fence was too long for the card, so I simply cut it shorter to the required length. 

The Embellishment 8 chipboard design has been covered with Liquid Pearls, and a coating of pink mica powder that has been mixed with a gel medium, to create the perfect shade of pink. 

And I have finished off with flowers, rhinestones, and a splash of kindy glitz. The flowers have been coated with Glimmermist Tattered Angels Dazzling Diamonds spray, and I have used Glossy Accents on both the hot air balloon and pocket watch.

When I am lost for inspiration, I usually turn to Pinterest.
I am seriously, seriously addicted to the Pinterest site - it is NEVER boring and there is always so much inspiration to be found.
This layout was created with a sketch  that I found on Pinterest.  

I am thrilled with the outcome of this layout. I love how I was able to make it my own,
 adding stamping, ink splatters, hearts, gold touches, and journaling. 

Here's the sketch and link - it is originally from the Fee Du Scrap Forum site. 

I fell in love with this sketch the minute I saw it. 

All the chipboard has been coloured using Gelatos. I used the basic Gelatos on the hearts, both big and small, and a metallic blue Gelato on the doilies. I simply rubbed the colour in with my fingers, and scraped off any excess before sticking the chipboard to my page. So easy. I then finished by coating the big and small hearts with Glossy Accents for added shine. 

I wanted to do something a little different with the doilies, rather than have them just sit there, all plain and boring. So I came up with the idea to add rhinestones to the inside of the circles that surround the doilies. I am totally happy with the end result. The doilies no longer look like doilies, they look like unique circular embellishments. 

By layering and swapping images in the sketch for alternate shapes, it is quick and easy to create a layout, and to find your inspiration again. So the next time you are feeling a little lost with your creating, head on over to Pinterest and see what you can find.

Mixing Old And New

Welcome everyone!

It's Julianne here today, sharing a mixed-media layout. 

And as an added bonus, I've mixed some of the new chipboard designs, with our older chipboard designs, to show you that our products never go out of date.

 "NO GREATER LOVE"

As soon as I saw this chipboard phrase, I knew I had to do a layout about a mother's love for her children, because I honestly believe there is no greater love, than that of a parent for their child. 

 

I created my layout on a 12x12 chipboard sheet, coated with gesso, and using random masks and texture paste. To add colour, I sprayed with Patina Glimmermist, Turquoise Blue glimmermist, and Tinsel Colour Shine.

 

All my chipboard pieces have been coloured with Inka-Gold in Silver, Teal, and Graphite. 

I have coated the title phrase with Glossy Accents to give it added shine and dimension. 

And I have run a wide strip of Glossy Accents along the top of the banner, and coated it with beads. This has given it a lovely texture, almost like a rope or twine.

I have finished my page with a scattering of sequins, Prima crystals, and Bella! bling.

For the Boys!

Hi there ....

Today we are sharing a few more projects all about Boys!

Scrapping boys & men can be a little more challenging but here are 3 projects that make it look easy!

First up is a layout I created of my husband. I have used Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays on all of the chipboard and used a custom made piece for the background.

Chitos has made this lovely layout of her son

 "This is a photo of my son was riding in the car at the amusement park in the summer.

I love the fresh look of using acrylic paint and gelato on the chip board."

And finally Julianne has made the super cute page featuring the little in her life ... her bunny!

"Creating a masculine page, for me, is a challenge. So I had to think a little different, and get creative. What do I have in my life that is masculine? Why, my bunny of course! I created a background with strips of paper and washi tape layered together. I added some stamping on top, then finished with some stencilling (using Viva Ferro in Bernsteingold). The stars and arrows were covered with orange ink, then coloured with an orange gelato to increase the vibrancy of the colour. They were then finished off with a coat of Dimensional Magic to add shine and dimension. The square border has been heat embossed with Stampendous Aged Gold embossing enamel, and random squares have been filled with a star or cross. The photo corners have been covered with Zing Gold Glitter embossing powder, for a little added sparkle. Finally, I have finished by journaling around the outer edge of the page."

Keeping It Simple: A Mini Canvas and Card.

Hello everyone! 

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. 

Here in Mount Barker, the sun is finally shining and it is a beautiful day. 

I have two projects to share with you today. Firstly, a mini canvas. Secondly, a card. 

This canvas was created on a 4x4 canvas, and is in fact, quite simple to create. It's all about the layers. You start with a large chipboard item as your base, and continue to layer, getting smaller as you reach the top. I have mixed my Imaginarium Designs chipboard with metal pieces, just for a little textural difference.  

The large butterfly colour has been created with two mixed blue glitters - one dark blue, and one dark teal. The smaller butterfly was coloured with Teal Inka-Gold. 

I have used silver Inka-Gold for the word, and platinum Inka-Gold for the doily and bracket mirror (which has been cut in half). 

Here you can clearly see all the different layers. Ive also included some Prima vine branches for added texture and colour, creating more of a visual interest and balance.  

The metallic silver wings have also been covered with silver Inka-Gold. They were originally two different colours.

I've kept my card sweet and simple, with lots of gold, pink and bling. 

I have added extra gold with a gold ribbon, a gold coated Art Deco embellishment, and a spray of Gilded Gold Glimmermist over the flowers. 

I have balanced the design with some pink rhinestones in the corners, and along the art deco embellishment.
