Cherish And Adore...

I recently inherited quite a few wooden frames (in the most unattractive of colours). I didn't want to throw them out, but I didn't want to put them on display either. They needed a major make-over before they could be considered suitable for use.

I began by coating the frames with several layers of white gesso. Once they were completely dry, I coated both frames with white Croco Crackling medium. Using a heat gun, I gently heated the frame edges until they began cracking. Once dry, I swiped silver ink over the frame edges, before wiping away the excess. This gave a beautiful distressed finish to the frames.

I used hessian to create my background, then layered different elements (chipboard and die cuts), until the design was complete.

Both frames are nearly identical - the only difference being the phrases I used, and the colours of the pins.

This photo of Megan and I was taken at my wedding, 13 years ago. Megan is such an important part of my life, and I thought it was time that I got around to getting this photo scrapped.

"SO GLAD WE ARE FRIENDS"
We have been friends since university, and I cannot imagine life without her. She is my dearest friend, and I miss her immensely. She is my partner in crime, and has too many tales she can share about our adventures. And since we both love all things girly, this layout is a perfect representation of our friendship.

The butterflies have been inked, then coated with Glimmer Glam (blue butterflies) and Kindy Glitz (pink butterflies). I have layered the butterflies on top of each other for more dimension.

I really wanted the phrase to stand out against all the colours in the layout, so I have inked it black, coated it with Glimmer Glam (in black), and once dry, coated it with Glossy Accents (for added shine).

The border and corner frames have been inked, then coated with clear embossing powder, and heated with a heat gun until completely melted. I've then decorated the border frame with pearls and rhinestones (for a little added sparkle!).
