Introducing the Superlative "Artsy" Artist that is Solange Marques.

Hello Everyone.
Today I get to introduce another mixed media master to you all. Solange and I go way back.  The first time we met was when we were both on the Graphic 45 Design team together quite a while ago. I loved her work then and the way she used mixed media products on her layouts and projects before anyone else in main stream scrapbooking was. Her work often has a whimsical feel to it and she is not afraid to use strong colours and interesting designs. She often blends her photos into her layouts by painting around them making them part of the page. I love her work, it is so different from anyone else. She really is an Artsy Artist.
Solange has been on our team since 2012. So  I went back through my folders and found some of the very first projects she ever did for us.

This is one of the first projects she ever did for us in 2012. It is still beautiful and has not dated in any way. This is the sign of a true artist, most of us change over the years or follow trends which can sometimes date our work. Solange has stayed true to her own style and this layout is a classic Solange project.

This mini canvas was a project Solange did for us in 2014. You can see how she uses different mixed media products on her projects. You can also see what I mean by a whimsical look and strong colours.
I asked Solange to do a blurb on herself.

Hi, my name is Solange Marques.
I am from Brazil and I'm in love with a scrapbook since 2004.I am married to John for over 34 years and have five children: Camila (32), Alexandre (31), Bruno (28), Gabriela (22) and Miguel (17). We also have three grandchildren: Clara (9) ,Samuel (6), and Gustavo (1 month). They are always present in my creations.
I graduated in Architecture and Fine Arts (perhaps that explains my huge passion for paint and their constant presence in my projects.
I've worked in a bank as a jewelry appraiser for 27 years, but now I am retired and I can create in full time!
In a scrap I love mixing techniques, mainly involving paints and textures (watercolor, acrylic paint, modeling paste and a lot of mediums). I consider myself a mixed media artist and I love the artsy
style.

One of Solange's whimsical layouts, again she has used strong colours  and blended her photos into her page. It's very clever and Solange is a master at this again I love the clean lines and the simplicity to her work.

Solange also does canvas/book covers and the one above is a great example of Solanges ability to do all styles of scrapbooking. This is one of her more grungy projects

Then for something different Solange also is a master a Shabby Chic. It is not often you have an artist that can do so many different styles. She really is in a league of her own. These three projects are just beautiful.

This layout again shows the way Solange works her photos into her backgrounds. It is so clever and I would love her to do a tutorial on how she makes it all work. She has used our flourish chipboard to create a wave effect and a frame to draw your eye to the photo. A couple of our butterflies finish the page beautifully.

Again another whimsical layout where Solange has used a photo of herself. She has added chipboard feathers to create interest around the nests on her layout. Lots of beautiful elements on this lovely layout.

Another layout on herself with lots of chipboard. Every piece has had a different finish to it.
'

I love this set of whimsical boxes It looks like a circus train full of performing animals just waiting for a train to take them on their journey.  Again lots of beautiful chipboard in each box.
Every project shown here is a classic example of Solange's ability to do turn her hand to any style and make it work. It has been a privilege  to have her on our design team for such a long time and we are delighted that she is staying with us again this year.
Please feel free to leave a comment for Solange  welcoming her to our team for 2018.
I will be back tomorrow with another team member to welcome.

thanks for looking

It's Time to say Goodbye to Belinda

Another goodbye today for another friend.
Belinda has been on our team for a while and has been  a friend and fellow teacher for even longer. It has been a joy and privilege to know her. We will miss her on our team but wish her all the best for 2018.

Belinda again is an all round scrapbooker, she makes amazing cards for Dark Room Door, does stunning project life, art journaling, and pocket letters, to say nothing of her amazing layouts. Of late she has taken up drawing and is now a master at it. Like everything she turns her hand to, it's not long before she is an expert and her work outstanding.

I had so much fun going back over the blog and choosing my favourite Belinda's layouts. There were so many to choose from but here are a few I really liked. Belinda really is an expert at layering and her page above is an excellent example  of just how good she is at it.

Belinda always surprises me with her work. She even has a dark side which she crosses over to from time to time. Her layout above show this. The layout was one she did on herself. Again her skill at layering is shown here.

This layout is a perfect example of  mixed media and shabby working well together. Belinda is a master of this and I just love this layout.

Again another example of Belinda's mixed media layout with a very cute photo.

This layout was another favourite of mine. Belinda does a lot of her work on kraft backgrounds and this one is a wonderful example of how you can add your own colour to your background to suit your photo. Again her layering on this layout is perfect, with the banners at the bottom giving her a foundation for adding more photos. She also uses our chipboard raw from time to time and I love the look she has achieved by doing this on her layout.

We do wish Belinda all the best with everything she does in 2018 and hope she has a wonderful year.
Please feel free to wish Belinda all the best.
Thanks for looking.

This should be our last farewell, so now we can start welcoming the Design Team for 2018. I can't wait to see what they all come up this this year.
Thanks for looking.

Scrapping you! :) :) :)

Hello Hello :)

Today I would like to share with you 2 layouts I created using some of my own fave designs the speech bubbles and the crosses.

I have stuck to the theme of creating layouts about myself, as we don't scrap our selves as much as we should, I thought it was Time! :)

With the Imaginarium Designs chipboard on these layouts I have painted them using vibrant colours of acrylic paint.

Three layouts by Tatiana Yemelyanenko

Hi dear readers!
Tatiana Yemelyanenko is here with new layouts with wonderful Imaginarium chipboard.
My first LO is about my sister. She is clever and beautiful lady. I admire her courage and determination. One day she realized that she was not involved with what she wanted. She left her work and turned her favorite hobby into a job. The symbol of her determination, devotion to dream, moving forward to the goal are the birds flying in the same direction.

I coloured chipboard phrase with Faber-Castell black marker, then I randomly added silver embossing with ultra high powder.

For this LO I used

The second layout is about my main treasure, it’s my daughter. I chose autumn photo, so for me the golden autumn – it is warm, bright colors and evenings with my beloved family. Because of the layout theme “Treasure” I used gold mist, paint with gold glitter, gold embossing powder and other elements with shine.

Firstly I covered branch with glimmer glaze and acrylic paint, then added thick layer of crackle accent. For the title I used gold embossing powder and leaf is covered with Jacquard paint.

For this LO I used

My third layout is about a mother's love and tenderness. I chose a photo with my daughter, made in one of the warm summer evenings in the field with fragrant herbs. I’d like to add to my layout Provance’s elements, so I chose palette and decorative elements such as shabby frame, lavender, slate tablet with title and embroidered button. Journaling is hidden on the back side of the layout.

Chipboard phrame is covered with white gesso and textured paste with sand, then I randomly covered phrame with Faber-Castel gelatos.

Word 'love' is covered with white embossing powder.
