Birthday Cards and A Girly Layout...

Good Morning Imaginarium Design fans! Julianne here, and today I am sharing two cards and a layout.

Now that my daughter's are growing up, and becoming social butterflies, we seem to be invited to an endless round of parties. And because the costs of presents, cards, and wrapping paper, can quickly add up, I decided it was time to cut back those costs with some hand made cards.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" Card
The image on this paper was too cute not to use for a card. But because it was so large, I had to keep the design rather simple. I used foam tape to raise the image and give it depth, and I highlighted it with Liquid Pearls, Kindy Glitz, and Dimensional Magic. I have also embossed the background paper for added texture.

The "Happy Birthday" phrase has been embossed with gold glitter embossing powder. I love the touch of sparkle that shows through the embossing powder.

For the finishing touches I've added a photo corner, and two small butterflies. All these items were inked with a chalk ink, then the corner was coated with Dimensional Magic, and the butterflies were coated with pink Kindy Glitz.

"BEST WISHES" Card
I wanted a card that was a little more generic, and a little less girly, for older friends that may be having a birthday. So I went with a pink and green colour scheme, with a few brown and gold highlights. I have framed the card image with Liquid Pearls, and added Kindy Glitz to highlight some of the leaves and flowers.

The butterfly was inked with a pink chalk ink, then coated with Glitter Glam, and a touch of pink Kindy Glitz. I then added a small resin flower to the centre of the butterfly. The swirls have been coated with Silks Acrylic Glaze.

The card phrase and embellishments have been coated with a thick gold embossing powder. I have finished off the card with a pink bow, and a large pink rhinestones.

Finally, I have a very pretty, girly layout to share with you...

"YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE"
I tend to gravitate towards bright and bold colours when I scrap, but occasionally I make an exception. I loved this mix of colours from Pink Paislee, and decided it didn't need anything added.
Both photo corners have been inked with a grey chalk ink, then coated with Glimmer Glaze.

On this layout, I started by painting each piece of chipboard with white Gesso (I used a spray for even coverage). Then I added simple touches of colour and embellishments with Glimmermists, and Glimmer Glaze. The Moroccan board has been highlighted with iridescent gold and gold Glimmermists. The butterfly has been highlighted with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmermist. Thise has added a subtle sheen and colour to the white chipboard pieces.

I have also used the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmermist on the title phrase. You can see how it has enhanced the whiteness by making it brighter.

I completed my layout with clusters of flowers and leaves, and highlighted the cut out images with Kindy Glitz. (I have added foam tape to the back of my images to add depth).
