Cards and Scrapbooking - with Karyn!

Hi Imaginarium Designs lovelies!!

It's Karyn here today with some cards and a scrapbook page to share with you.

My last project for Imaginarium Designs was a set of 4 masculine cards. I've also made a set of 4 girly cards - made using lots of gorgeous Imaginarium Designs chipboard

I thought I would also include a little step by step to show my card making process.

The first thing I do is to lay out my card bases and decide what chipboard to use on each card. Whenever I make 1 card I always try and make 3-4 using similar techniques and colours.
Next I prepare my chipboard. In this case I paint a layer of white gesso over the chipboard - so the colours will stand out.
Then I've painted the chipboard using the colours I've chosen for my cards - in this case pink, blue and purple Dylusions ink sprays.
Here are all my finished chipboard embellishments.
Next I work on my cards. I've cut out additional card fronts using watercolour paper. Then I've sprayed with the Dylusion ink sprays (blue and purple). While the ink was still wet I flicked water on the page, then I used paper towel to dab off the excess. Then I sprayed water through 2 different stencils and again used a paper towel to dab off excess.
Once everything is thoroughly dry I put the cards together.
There are the two pink/purple cards - I've also added some rhinestone bling!!
These are closeups of the two blue/purple cards. I think this one is my favourite - and the "Happy Birthday" chipboard is one if my all time favourites too!!
I love the effect on this background - gorgeous!

My next project is a scrapbook page.

I've used some photos of Jessica riding her new bike - soon after she learned to ride without training wheels!

For this project I've used the Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Hello Lovely" collection - papers, ephemera, enamel dots, wood veneer and flair. I love all of the collections from Cocoa Vanilla Studio - and I love that it is an Australian business!

As well as all of the gorgeous chipboard embellishments I've used a Cocoa Vanilla Studio cut file (from the "Colour me happy" collection) that I've cut out using my Silhouette Cameo. I love the look of the different patterned papers within this cutout!
I've clustered a number of chipboard elements around my photos. I've coloured the chipboard by first painting with white gesso, then spraying with ColorShine. For the small butterfly I've painted the ColorShine on using 2 shades of pink.
This title "girl on a mission" was perfect for the photo. Jessica previously hadn't been interested in bike riding but now there is no stopping her!!

  1. Karyn your cards are gorgeous... Amazing colors you chose. Thank you for the step-by-step. It is so nice to be reminded of techniques we tried some time back. I also love the effect you used removing colors through a stencil. It gives such a fabulous shadow effect.
Your journal page is great as well. Lovely inspiration..
