For The Love Of Colour...

Hello to all our Imaginarium Designs friends! Are you enjoying the coming of Spring? I definitely am - all the new growth, and beautiful spring colours. I can't help but be inspired by all the new colour blooming around me (especially after such a wet and grey winter). So I hope you will let me share some of that inspiration with you! Let's start with something pink...

"MY GIRLS"

No matter how hard I try to use other colours for my girly layouts, I keep coming back to pink. I can't help it - it's just so pretty and feminine. And this layout is no exception. I just love all the pretty pink details and embellishments, all finished off with a splash of pink glitter...

Bird Cage - Begin by coating the cage with brown ink or paint. Follow this with a coat of Helmar Crackle Medium Step 1. Allow to dry 20-30 minutes until tacky to touch. Next, apply Helmar Crackle Medium Step 2. Allow to dry several hours (or overnight if possible). Once dry, the crackles will appear, giving a beautiful distressed look to the cage. Decorate and embellish as desired (I have used Zva Creative rhinestones; Prima flowers; and ribbon for my final touches).

Bird and Butterfly - Begin by inking the bird and butterfly with an ink, in a similar colour, to the glitter that you plan on using. In my case, it was pink. Then spray with Helmar Vellum spray. Sprinkle fine glitter over both shapes (I used pink Doodlebug glitter). Work quickly as the vellum spray can dry quickly. Once dry, adhere to the birdcage.

Title - Thoroughly cover the chipboard title with gold ink. Follow with a coat of clear embossing ink, and then sprinkle with fine gold embossing powder. Shake off the excess embossing powder before heating, and melting, with a heat gun. Allow to cool before adhering to the layout.

Embellishment 4 - Thoroughly cover both embellishment pieces with gold ink. Follow with a coat of clear embossing ink, and then sprinkle with fine gold embossing powder. Shake off the excess embossing powder before heating, and melting, with a heat gun. Allow to cool before adhering to the layout.

OTHER PRODUCTS USED:
Glitz Designs papers; Prima flowers and vines; Zva Creative rhinestones; Webster's tulle; Glimmermist Pearl; Helmar Crackle medium (Step 1 and Step 2); Doodlebug glitter; Helmar Vellum spray; Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots; Prima Ingvilde Bolme inks; gold ink; clear embossing ink: gold embossing powder; ribbon; gesso; washi tape; tags; and black pen.

Why have just one colour, when you can have all the colours? The background on this layout was created using a Crafter's Workshop stencil and water colour pencils.

"WISHING YOU HAPPINESS"

To keep the focus on the photos, and not loose them in the bright background, I kept all the embellishments black and white. This has created a beautiful contrast with the rainbow background.

Border - Ink entire length of border with black ink (I used Ingvilde Bolme Prima ink). Once dry, coat with clear embossing ink, and coat with clear embossing powder. Shake off excess, and heat thoroughly with a heat gun. Once cool, adhere to page.

Butterflies -  Coat each butterfly with two layers of white Gesso. Once dry, coat with Glossy Accents or Dimensional Magic. Allow to dry, then finish with 2-3 rhinestones in the centre.

Wishing You Happiness Phrase - Begin by coating the phrase with two coats of white Gesso. Then spray with Helmar Vellum Spray. Working quickly, sprinkle white glitter all over the top. Once dry, simply shake off the excess, and adhere to the page.

Flourish - Begin by cutting flourish in half at the centre. Ink both pieces with black ink (I used Ingvilde Bolme Prima inks). Then coat with Tattered Angels Glam Glitter Paint in Stiletto (black). Allow to dry, and adhere to the page.

OTHER PRODUCTS USED:
Prima flowers and vines; Prima flower centres; Crafter's Workshop stencil; watercolour pencils; Maya Road transparent doilies; Zva Creative rhinestones; and a black journalling pen.

Let's finish with a layout that just vibrates with colour. Oh, and you might want to wear your sunglasses...

"NATURE LOVER"

Large and Small Butterflies - These shapes were used as masks. Simply place them on your layout where desired and spray with a coloured mist spray. in my case, I have used Tattered Angels Chalkboard and Glimmermists (Inchworm; Firefly: Peacock Blue; and Lime Twist). Carefully remove butterfly shapes from the page. Cover the sprayed images with a paper towel, and press gently soak up the excess mist.

Chipboard Alphas - Cover all the alphas with a brown ink (or paint if preferred). Once dry, gently coat with a clear embossing ink, but not too heavily. You want a light covering only. Sprinkle with clear embossing ink, and shake off as much excess as possible. Heat, and melt, with a heat gun, and allow to cool. Your alphas should have a slightly wet look to them, kind of like rain on a window pane. Adhere to the page with a strong adhesive.

Fence - I wanted to create a slightly vintage and worn look to the fence, but still maintain a bright colour scheme. To achieve this, I used Pan Pastels. I began by coating the fence with two coats of the light blue pastel. I then used my finger to dab brown pastel over various areas of the fence. This created a lovely distressed finish. To ensure that the pastels didn't rub off, I coated the fence with Dimensional Magic, creating a glossy finish. Once dry, I adhered it to the layout using Helmar Liquid Scrap dots for added dimension.

Flowers and birds - Cover thoroughly with inks in the desired colours. I used blue and orange for the birds, and brown for the flower. I then covered the birds with Stickles Glitter in matching colours to the ink; and the flower was coated with crystal Kindy Glitz. Allow to dry thoroughly before adhering to your layout.
