Art is Life Layout, and New Baby Card

Hi Everyone,

I have completed a layout and card to show you this month.  The layout is one of my Mother, who is an Artist, and right from a very young age she dabbled creatively with pencils and paint.

My layout is created upon a 12 X 12 Imaginarium Designs chipboard base, due to using the large Paris Backing Frame (IDFR0010) as my main focal point, and is quite heavy.  The Paris Backing Frame  is such a beautiful and ornate shape!  Both larger and smaller pieces of chipboard look amazing when crackled and it is such an easy process to follow to achieve this look, so do not be afraid to give it a 'try'.
To achieve the crackled effect, all I did was paint the Paris Backing Frame with cream acrylic paint, applied the first Step of Helmar Crackle Medium and leave overnight (best results).  The following day, I applied the 2nd step of the crackle medium and allowed it to dry, which is where the cracks take place.  When totally dry, I applied the Gold Shiva Stick across the board, and wiped gently with a soft cloth so that the paint soaked into the cracks.
In the above photograph, you can see how the smaller areas of the Paris Backing Frame (IDFR0010) crackle with smaller 'cracks'...almost an appearance of old marble.
With the foliage, I added the Kerry Flourish Small (IDFL0009), using an Adirondock Acrylic Paint Dabber in Gold, which leaves the most glorious texture on the chipboard and covers to perfection.
The largest butterfly from 4 Small Butterflies (IDT0014) was also painted in the same manner as above, and I kept the Lower Case Letters (IDALC0001) plain painting in 'Vintage Photo' distress stain.
Above, I have used Embellishment 8 (IDS0014) which was cut into half and adhered to either side of the quote - again using the same painted medium as above.
Supplies:
Papers: Graphic 45 Curtain Call 'Leading Ladies', Kraft Reflections 'Quote...Unquote', AC Cardstock

Paris Backing Frame (IDFR0010)
Lower Case Letters (IDALC0001)

and my second project is for a friend of mine who is having a baby in around 6/7 weeks.  Not knowing the sex of the baby I kept the colours neutral to suit both sexes.

The new 'Baby X 2, Boy and Girl' chipboard words are so cute!!  They actually match the Graphic 45 paper collection which I used in this card, called 'Little Darlings'.  I applied Adirondack 'Gold' Acrylic Paint again to both of these chipboard pieces, I just loved the texture!
For the Congratulations (IDW0017) I added a 'bling piece' for the dot above the letter 'i'!

Hope you have enjoyed my projects for this month, to see more of my creations, pop on over to my blog which can be found 'here'...and don't forget to leave a comment to win some fabulous Imaginarium Designs Chipboard!!
Till October, happy creating!
