A perfect Layout and a perfect keepsake

Today I have two lovely projects from Gerry. Just look at all the wonderful embellishments she has included on her layout. Layers and layers, of paper, paint, flowers and chipboard. She has even done some punching. It looks beautiful and simple, not cluttered and busy. The sign of a well designed project.
The Bird cage was painted with brown crackle paint from Tim Holtz. Once it was dry Gerry added black gimmer glam. It gives a different effect than painting only with Gimmer Glam.

IDS0009 Bird Cage.
For the title Gerry used Black pigment ink (ColorBox) and Thick embossing powder.

I love the finish on her chipboard, and the way she has tucked a frame under her printed film strip. It looks like she has used texture paste on the frame. Here is what Gerry had to say "I feel almost guilty that I had to cut this beautiful frame but I wanted to showcase it in another way and more important is that I have more to scrap with it".

Gerry has used one our embellishments boards. She used two pieces, each ornament was cut into two and painted with crackle paint from Tim Holtz and tucked under her photo's.

I love this layout, and the way Gerry has managed to fit three photo's on. It is always hard to do this and Gerry's layout is perfect.

For her second project Gerry sent us a beautiful Altered Art Canvas with a Birthday theme.

Gerry used an 8x8 inch canvas. Gerry prepped her canvas with painting and textured paste. It looks amazing and this is before she has started.
Here is what she had to say about her canvas. "This Birthday Cake is my son's 1st Birthday Cake. He loved it so much that he wanted to have it in his room. I thought it would be fun to make a small canvas with a photo of the cake, that we could hang on his wall in his room".
Doesn't it look amazing, you really need to see a project like this in your hands. The photo's never do it justice.
Gerry used one of the balloon boards for putting the number on her canvas. She used seaglass prigment ink (colorbox) and thick embossing powder.

    IDT0014 Small Butterflies
Gerry painted the butterflies with gesso. When it was dry she used 4 Copic Markers to color it, yellow, orange, green and blue.

For this Gerry used two different pigment inks and thick embossing powder.

Look at the finish Gerry has got on her title.

What a wonderful keepsake of her son's birthday, I am sure he will love having it, hanging in his room.
